(Efe) Joseph Blatter, presidente de la FIFA, anunció que, tras las pruebas realizadas este año en competiciones juveniles, se usará el vídeo para comprobar si el balón cruza la línea de gol durante el Mundial de Clubes del próximo año
La FIFA planeó usar esta tecnología durante el Mundial de Alemania pero no implantó finalmente tras unas pruebas con resultados "no concluyentes". "Hicimos diferentes pruebas durante el Mundial sub'17 en Perú pero no resultaron lo suficientemente claras, así que las mantendremos en las competiciones juveniles durante 2007", comentó Blatter en conferencia de prensa. El presidente de la FIFA señaló que el vídeo será la única tecnología usada para ayudar a los árbitros en sus decisiones y matizó: "Necesitamos que los árbitros y, especialmente los jueces de línea, estén mejor entrenados"."Los árbitros deben ser profesionales y los jueces de líneas, especialistas. La Copa de las Confederaciones de 2009 usará sólo a jueces de línea especializados", concluyó.
